I first visited the Comarca Ngöbe-Buglé as an exchange student with SIT Panama in the Fall of 2007. Intrigued by what I saw and wanting to understand better the area, I returned to the area during school vacations for the next year and a half to research how national and international "home garden betterment" projects were impacting planting practices in the area. I joined Few for Change shortly after its formation, impressed by the efforts of the people I met in the Comarca to continue their and their children's education beyond the 6th grade. I am currently working with Health Empowering Humanity (Salud para el Empoderamiento del Pueblo), collaborating with a community in the Comarca to develop local public health projects.
